Once every three hundred million years The Galaxy pauses, resets itself, recalibrates it's position in The Universe of reality and the continues on it's meandering way. This lasts about twenty-two Earth hours. Nobody ever notices this. At least, no one is supposed to.
Dave Romjintz did.
It was a bright, sunny Tuesday afternoon in April. The year was Nineteen Hundred Eighty-Eight, Anno Domini. Dave was twenty years, three months and fourteen days old.
Dave Romjintz was a very promising young lawyer; the youngest Yale graduate ever, and he had been practicing law for thirteen months.
On that bright and Tuesday, Dave Romjintz felt a little odd. He abruptly abandoned his current projects and rushed from his office, leaving in his wake two very confused but over payed para-legals. He went home, grabbed a kitchen knife, and for no readily apparent reason brutally murdered his neighbors' dog, cat, and goldfish.
The next day, Dave woke naked on his porch roof. Slightly confused, he dressed and went to work only forty-five minutes late.
No one ever connected him to the mystery, and he enjoyed thirty successful years as a prominent lawyer, and eventually even became a Judge.
The End
